Every year, students from many countries around the world choose to study at Great Southern Institute of Technology, in the south of Western Australia.
Established in 1974, the Institute is the largest training provider in a region that covers an area of 40,500 square kilometres. From our home in Albany we offer a broad range of qualifications in Health and Community Sciences, IT, Business or Design and those with a focus on regional specialities such as Horticulture, Aquaculture or Conservation and Land Management. The Institute offers first class educational facilities including a new Health Sciences and Community Services block that will enable students to better meet growing community demand for nurses, allied health workers and community and children’s services work.

The main campus of Great Southern Institute is located in Albany, approximately 420 kilometres south of Perth.
An additional campus in Denmark, just over 50 kilometres away offers a Diploma in Music. Denmark is well known as a top tourist destination.

Albany’s weather is mild compared with Perth, there are very few days above 32°C ensuring plenty of days to explore this magnificent region. Albany and its surrounds offer some incredible views, beaches, walk trails and bays. If you are into aquatic leisure such as surfing, fishing, whale watching, swimming, diving and boating, this is the place for you. If adventure is your preference, you can four-wheel drive through some breathtaking country or take a leisurely bush walk among wildflowers and native ecosystems Spectacular karri trees, ancient river systems and secluded white sandy beaches are all on our doorstep.
There are a variety of choices when it comes to accommodation. Rent is more affordable than Perth and you can choose from inner city, rural acreage, forest or beachside locations.

Great Southern Institute students have access to additional English and academic support in a welcoming and supportive environment. Small class sizes mean a greater community feel and offer opportunities to get to know local students. Lecturers are well known for providing great support and being involved in the local community through sport, art or other ventures. Getting to Great Southern Institute
Albany has a regional airport with a direct service between Perth and Albany. See the

TransWA provides a bus service between Perth and Albany. See the

Albany also has a bus service that operates between the city centre and suburbs including the Albany campus.
The International Student Coordinator is available to assist to find
short and long term accommodation. Private rentals close to the CBD and the Institute are available in Albany or Homestay accommodation can also be arranged if required.
On arrival in Albany many international students prefer short-term accommodation in either a share house or backpackers' hostel while they make arrangements for longer-term accommodation.
From initial contact to the completion of the course, students are offered all the support they need to succeed in their studies.
