This qualification has been designed to meet the needs of the digital economy, the information and communications technology (ICT) industry, and to take advantage of National Broadband Network (NBN) opportunities. The aim of this qualification is to produce highly skilled tertiary programming and software development graduates ready to take on current and emerging challenges in the development of ‘apps’.
It is made up of sixteen units to be studied over two years. Units contain a balance of current theory and relevant practical skills and prepare you to create applications for both the Apple iOS and Android platforms.
Admission Requirements
To gain admission to this qualification you need to meet the minimum entry requirement equivalent to Australian Year 12 or completion of the Diploma of Software Development.
An IELTS score (Academic) of 6.0 with no band score less than 5.5 is required.

Successful completion of the Associate Degree qualification will prepare you for further studies at a university. Advanced standing will be offered but will vary from university to university.

This qualification is registered with the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) as a higher education course. Therefore students must apply for the Higher Education Sector Visa (subclass 573). Please refer to www.immi.gov.au for further information.
The pathways into the Associate Degree qualifications provided in this course guide are based on students following the pathway as listed under that qualification for Polytechnic West only. Students entering the Associate Degree qualifications from alternative qualifications delivered at other institutions may not receive the same credits as students who have followed the listed pathway and should discuss this with ETI before enrolling.
