This qualification will prepare you for a career in the strongly growing IT networking industry in the areas of network management, network engineering, system administration and system security.
Emphasis is on the development of strong practical skills sought after by industry, with studies strongly aligned with Cisco, Microsoft certificates.
The advertised 1.5 year articulation pathway into the Associate Degree of Network Technology at Polytechnic West’s (PWA) Thornlie Campus, is based on the understanding that students have completed their Diploma of Information Technology Networking studies at PWA. Students who have completed a generic Diploma of Information Technology at another institution and wish to enter the Associate Degree of Networking Technology, may only be eligible to receive advanced standing for up to 2 credit units.
Any student who wants to apply for full advanced standing as advertised, can be assessed on a case by case basis and has the option to pay extra tuition fees of $240 per unit for up to four (4) compulsory CISCO units
Admission Requirements
To gain admission to this qualification you need to meet the minimum entry requirement equivalent to Australian Year 12 with passes in English and Mathematics or:
- Completion of the full International Baccalaureate Diploma with a minimum of 24 points from six subjects at one sitting. Three (3) of these subjects must be at the higher level – one of six subjects should be English.
- Successful completion of any Certificate IV in Information Technology.

Successful completion of the Associate Degree qualification will assist to prepare you for further studies at a university.
Students who successfully complete the Diploma of Information Technology Networking (ICA50411) at Polytechnic West will receive advance standing of 6 months when continuing to the Associate Degree.
Advanced standing will be offered but will vary from university to university.

This qualification is registered with the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) as a higher education qualification. Therefore you must apply for the Higher Education Sector Visa (Subclass 573).

Students entering the Associate Degree qualifications from alternative qualifications delivered at other institutions may not receive the same credits as students who have followed the listed pathway and should discuss this with ETI before enrolling.

Tuition: $13,600 per year
