This qualification provides you with the practical skills and knowledge you need to produce drawings to design specifications for manufacture by an engineering workshop. You will develop a range of computer drafting skills as well as knowledge of mechanical engineering processes and principles. You will also increase your skills in computing and engineering graphics, materials, systems, standards and processes, including safety in the workplace, effective communication, quality control and project management.

Successful completion of this qualification will give you the opportunity to become an engineering associate/technician in your chosen field. This is an engineering qualification with a strong mechanical focus.

This qualification replaces the Mechanical and Mechanical CAD stream qualifications previously offered to International Students.

Admission Requirements

To gain admission to this qualification you need to meet the minimum entry requirement equivalent to Australian Year 12 with passes in English and Mathematics or completion of the Certificate III in Engineering - Technical (MEM30505)
