Overview

If you are looking at options to study in Western Australia, Swan TAFE is an excellent choice for international students wishing to further their English Language skills or to attain a qualification in various fields of study.

The college is one of four major TAFE WA institutions in the Perth metropolitan area funded by the State Government of Western Australia.

Students have access to excellent facilities on campus, and our friendly and knowledgeable lecturers will help make your learning experience rewarding and enjoyable.

Our Campuses

The main campuses of Swan TAFE are located at Bentley, Balga, Carlisle, Midland, Thornlie and Armadale. Bentley campus is also the College's main administrative centre and where Swan's International Centre is located.

Bentley Campus

The Bentley Campus of Swan TAFE is located just 7kms from the central business district of Perth and is Swan TAFE's largest campus. It is an easy drive from Perth International Airport and easily accessible by public transport or private car.{moszoomthumb imgid=44 style_m=2 style_c=2}

Bentley Campus is situated in a peaceful parkland setting of pine trees, providing a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. It is located next to Curtin University of Technology, in Western Australia's largest educational precinct. The area is also well known for the large amount of student accommodation available.

Students also have access to a Computer Assisted Language Laboratory (CALL) that allows for a broad range of teaching and learning methods. The lab is used for presentations, testing vocabulary and conversation skills and self-paced learning for independent study.{moszoomthumb imgid=43 style_m=2 style_c=2}

There is also a working bakery, meat processing workshop, fashion centre, retail simulated shop, a veterinary clinic, and a computer assisted drawing centre open to the public. These training facilities are real working environments.


Features of other Campuses

Midland: Midland Campus is the only TAFE WA provider of Aeroskills training in Western Australia. The campus offers you access to a workshop fully equipped with various aeroplanes and engines to practice your maintenance skills on. If you are training to be a pilot, you will also have access to flight simulators and Jandakot Airport, where you will undertake the flying component of your studies. Our experienced Aeroskills lecturers come from a wide range of backgrounds including an ex-commercial pilot and an ex-RAAF pilot.

Thornlie: The Thornlie Campus has specialised workshops, a simulated office environment, secure computer rooms and science laboratories and offers courses in the areas of community services, mining and engineering, business and information technology and building and construction.


Carlisle: The Carlisle Refrigeration and Air Conditioning unit is also Western Australia's premier centre for refrigeration, air conditioning and associated studies. The purpose built facility is one of the best of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. It is also where Swan TAFE's new Diploma of Automotive Engineering will be conducted.


Balga: The Balga Campus has developed into a major centre for building and construction training. Its advanced equipment provides students with a competitive edge in the training arena and ensures they will continue to receive industry-relevant training.


Specialist Centres

Bentley Hospitality Institute

Swan TAFE’s Bentley Hospitality Institute is a highly regarded provider of hospitality training. Our experienced lecturers are highly knowledgeable and have industry experience from employment in Five Star hotels to Alfresco and Cafe dining.

At this world class training centre, international students are able to study Retail Baking, Commercial Cookery, Asian Cookery, Food & Beverage Supervision and Hospitality Management. See Catalogue

Equine Training Centre - Armadale

Swan TAFE's Equine Training Centre at Armadale is arguably the best horse training facility in the State and has established links with the racing, breeding, farriery and greyhound industries.

The purpose built classrooms, stable complex, large all-weather demonstration area,  training ring, pacing and racing track, tack rooms and associated facilities provide students with outstanding facilities to learn how to handle and manage horses and farm animals.

International students are able to study the Certificate III in Racing - Advanced Stablehand course at this facility.


English Courses

Swan TAFE's Bentley campus is one of two English Language Centres to offer intensive English studies (ELICOS).

Courses offered at Bentley include:
