Overview

Named the West Australian Large Training Provider of the Year in 2010, Durack Institute of Technology is one of Western Australia’s leading vocational education and training providers.
Durack delivers training at five campuses throughout the Mid West and Gascoyne regions with uniquely modern training facilities and resources. Locations include the Batavia Coast Maritime Institute (Geraldton), Carnarvon campus, Exmouth campus, Geraldton main campus and smaller Wiluna campus for remote inland communities.

Student Opportunities
As per their visa requirements, international students can engage in full time courses at the main campus in the port city of Geraldton which is located approximately 450km north of Perth.
The city offers spectacular views of the beautiful coastline to the west and rolling hills and breakaway ranges to the east with a Mediterranean climate perfect for outdoor activities year round. Outside of study time, students can enjoy a variety of water sports such as kite surfing, surfing, fishing, kayaking, diving and swimming or take a trip to the nearby Abrolhos Islands which are well known for their natural wildlife and scenic vistas.
Student Support
A high level of personal attention to Durack student's academic and personal well-being is offered through the Client Services team. Lecturers have extensive industry experience and are dedicated to supporting the diverse needs of students from both local regional and international backgrounds. Durack is one of the few training institutes to offer international students accommodation on campus at Pepperell Village. Residential supervisors offer international students support and assistance in adjusting to their new study and living environment.

Durack delivers over 150 courses to more than 6,000 students each year across a broad range of disciplines. Qualifications range from Certificate I to Advanced Diploma levels which can lead to Degree programs at Universities across Australia.
Durack works closely with employers and builds industry partnerships to offer relevant and up-to-date learning experiences.

Specialist Training Facilities
The Batavia Coast Maritime Institute (BCMI) is an attractive option for students wishing to undertake courses in Maritime Transport and Distribution, Marine Tourism, Environmental Science, Conservation and Land Management, or Aquaculture. With these state-of-the-art facilities, BCMI at Durack is now a leading supplier of ornamental fish to other parts of Australia and the world.
Having just received National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) accreditation, BCMI’s lab is the only facility north of Perth to be able to provide the technical competency in chemical water testing. Durack is now in the unique position of having students conduct commercial testing whilst monitored by Supervisors to provide a valuable service to the mining, agriculture and aquaculture industries.
Another unique training facility at Durack is the Zeewijk Training Restaurant which was established in 1985. An essential part of training for students studying Hospitality and Commercial Cookery, it features purpose built training kitchens and students are required to participate in every aspect of managing and operating the restaurant which is regularly open to the public.
