Overview

Challenger TAFE has over 25,000 students across 11 specialist training centres, with campuses and centres located along the coastline south of Perth from Fremantle to the Peel region (Mandurah) and inland to Murdoch.

The college is a quality training provider having won both the 2005 Westerna Australian and Australian Large Training Provider of the Year Awards, in addition to also winning the Western Australian award in 2004.

Studying at Challenger TAFE includes access to some of the most interesting facilities. These include 'hands-on' training centres positioned in the heart of Fremantle such as Quinlan's on High (training restaurant), Visage Beauty and Massage Clinic and the WA Maritime Training Centre. These centres provide students with real life experience working with clients.

Our Campuses

The main campuses of Challenger TAFE are located at Fremantle (Beaconsfield), Fremantle e-Tech (Fremantle), Murdoch, Rockingham, Peel, Henderson and the Maritime Training Centre (Fremantle port).

Fremantle (Beaconsfield) Campus

The Fremantle Beaconsfield Campus is Challenger's largest and is situated adjacent to the dynamic cultural district of Fremantle - on the south west coast of Perth's metropolitan area.

Facilities

Facilities at our Fremantle campus include:
  • Fully-equipped computer labs with internet access.
  • Well-equipped libraries with access to computers, videos, reference books, language learning materials and international newspapers.
  • Bookshop, restaurants, outdoor alfresco areas and garden courtyard.

Fremantle e-Tech Centre

A century-old building in the heart of Fremantle has taken on a new life as home to an exciting and innovative information technology and communications centre.

Peel Campus

Challenger TAFE's Peel Campus is located in Mandurah on the site of Western Australia's first co-located school, TAFE and university campus - the Peel Education and TAFE Campus incorporating Mandurah Senior College (Years 11 and 12), Challenger TAFE and Murdoch University facilities. It is one of the most modern integrated campuses in Australia.

Specialist Centres

W.A. Maritime Centre

Situated in the heart of Western Australia’s major port, the WA Maritime Training Centre – Fremantle is ideally positioned to deliver training in marine operations, marine engineering, STCW courses, aquaculture, marine studies, commercial fishing, marine tourism, and seafood processing, and contains the Aquaculture Development Unit applied research facility.

The Centre is state-of-the-art and is equipped with the latest facilities including simulators, aquaculture hatchery and a fleet of six vessels including the 18-metre training vessel “Maritime Image”.

The Centre’s proximity to the waterfront, shipbuilding and repair facilities, cargo operations and Western Australian shipping companies has contributed to its reputation as one of the most innovative and industry-relevant maritime training facilities in Australia. Many students, past and present, are employed world-wide.

Hospitality and Tourism Training Centre

Challenger TAFE's Quinlan's Hospitality and Tourism Training Centre is focussed on the training and development needs of industry, and the needs of people seeking employment and career paths in the hospitality and tourism industries.

Our highly trained professional staff all have substantial industry experience and are qualified workplace trainers. Our facilities are second to none and include commercially equipped kitchens and the training restaurant/bar, Quinlan's Restaurant which is renowned for excellence in food and beverage presentation and service.
