Apply Direct or Through an Agent?
You pay the same fees to us whether you apply directly to us or through one of our overseas representatives (agents). Many students choose to apply directly - especially as they can use this website to find all the information they need and submit their applications online.
Other students choose to use Agents to assist them in preparing and submitting their study and visa applications. If you don't already have an agent, you can find an approved one using our Study Agents Directory.
Entry Requirements
All applicants can study at TAFE in the calendar year they are turning 18. There are no English or Academic entry requirements to begin our English (ELICOS) programs. However, all of our Certificate & Diploma courses have specific Academic and English proficiency requirements. These are listed with each course in our course catalogue.
Receive Offer & Conditions
Once we have received your application and supporting documents, we will assess your eligibility to study your selected course(s). If eligible and there are places available we will send you a "Letter of Offer" reserving a place in your course. This letter will be sent to you directly or through the agent you have nominated according to your instructions on the application form.
If we have not received all the required supporting documents and information, your Letter of Offer will have conditions listed noting the information you still need to provide.
There is no deadline for accepting an offer - which is done by meeting all the conditions and making payment. However, there are many high demand courses like Engineering and Nursing that fill up very quickly. Generally, you need to allow sufficient time before your program starts to obtain your visa and make arrangements to come to Western Australia. Usually at least 3 - 6 months is needed to do this.
Meet Conditions & Make Payment
Meeting any Conditions on Letter of Offer
Once any conditions on your Letter of Offer have been satisfied you can accept the offer by making payment for your tuition fees and overseas student health cover (if applicable).
Accepting your Offer by Making Payment
The minimum initial tuition fees required are:
- If studying English only, you'll need to pay for the entire English program upfront.
- If studying a Certificate or Diploma only, you'll need to pay for the first semester of your course up front.
- If studying English and then a Certificate or Diploma, you'll need to pay for the entire English program and the first semester of the main program up front.
The amount you need to pay will be on the Letter of Offer. Important instructions on making payments and payment methods can be found here.
Receive Confirmation of Enrolment and Apply for Student Visa
Once you've met any conditions and made at least the minimum initial payment required, we will provide you a Confirmation of Enrolment (COE) letter which you will need in order to apply for a Student Visa at the Australian High Commission or Embassy in your country. You must have a student visa in order to enter Australia and commence your studies.
Student visas can be renewed once in Australia but have a renewal cost. Medical checks are also only valid for 12 months if your visa is for 12 months or less. Therefore, it is best to arrange a student visa for all intended continued studies at TAFE. We can then provide a Confirmation of Enrolment that allows you to obtain a student visa for the whole duration of your studies.
How do I get my Student Visa?
The latest and most accurate information on obtaining your student visa can be found on the Department of Immigration's student visas site.
Can I get Assistance with my Visa Application?
If you need considerable help with obtaining your visa and other aspects of moving to Australia - which may be best provided in your own country or language - then you might like to use the services of one of our representatives in our Study Agents Directory.
Obtain Visa and Come to Australia to Start Studying
Once you've obtained your student visa you're all clear to come to Western Australia in time to begin your course. Please take note of the Orientation dates for your College as a lot of important information is provided at orientation. Please also note that you must arrive in Australia prior to the start of the course or your enrolment will be deferred to the next available intake and you may have to return home.
