Overview

Greenwood Senior High School is a well established secondary school situated in a quiet suburb 17 km north of Perth city. It is a clean, safe, spacious, middle sized school located on a grassy five hectare site among stands of restful native trees. Greenwood Senior High School welcomes international students. As there is an Intensive English Centre on campus students are used to mixing with international students and are aware of their aspirations and needs. For thirty years the school has had a bilateral relationship with Japanese schools in Kagoshima leading to student exchange programs.

Greenwood has rigorous Mathematics, Science, English and Social Science programs that cater well for students of all ability levels. Staff members have extensive experience in their fields of expertise, and, while demanding rigour in student work, exhibit a caring and patient attitude toward students. The Principal of the school was a finalist in the Principal of the Year competition in 2006 and his leadership has sharpened the school’s vision, cohesion and professionalism.

Greenwood has a range of educational programs and students are able to choose subjects that match their abilities and aspirations. Students are able to select from courses of study that will enable them to enter the workforce or continue post-secondary education at TAFE or university. A well resourced Careers Centre is available to enable students to move into a career that best rewards their strengths.

These programs are available to international fee paying students. Interested students should contact the school for information about application procedures.

English Support

Greenwood has an Intensive English Centre which caters for up to 130 students across Years 8 to 10 who need to develop their English skills and gain confidence in their assimilation into the Australian education and cultural environments. The Intensive English Centre provides 6 to 12 months of intensive English lessons to international and migrant students in order to prepare them for mainstream schooling. After entering the mainstream setting further ESL support is provided by trained ESL teachers.
