Industry Related Training

West Coast partners with employers to design and develop training that meets industry standards, using high-quality resources that enables students to graduate with world-class skills and well prepared for success in their chosen career. Many of our courses include work based training or practicum placements providing our students with real life experience to enhance their classroom based learning and ensuring students are “job ready” with the knowledge they need to succeed in the jobs of tomorrow.

With advanced standing through articulation agreements with Edith Cowan University and Curtin University, many West Coast qualifications lead straight into university courses reducing study loads and costs.

West Coast Institute features the multi-award winning Academy of Hospitality and Culinary Arts which includes the superb Pavilion restaurant, new purpose built training kitchens and specialist bakery and patisserie kitchens. West Coast is the only Australian education provider to date to be awarded the prestigious World Association of Chefs Societies(WACS) award for excellence in quality culinary education.

Information and Communication Technology students can take advantage of Western Australia’s only institute delivered motion capture studio which enhances the learning experience of design, animation and games animation programs.

West Coast Institute’s on site beauty and treatment salon provides beauty students with real client experience to develop their skills
while they are training.

The new Trades North state-of-the-art facility opened in 2011 has rapidly become a leading trade training provider in Western Australia, delivering programs including bricklaying, carpentry and joinery, wall and floor tiling and plastering.

Campuses

Joondalup

The beautiful lakeside location of West Coast Institute’s main campus provides a relaxing environment for a successful and enjoyable student experience. Situated in the heart of Joondalup, just a short walk from Joondalup’s CBD, the Lakeside Shopping Centre and Joondalup Bus and Train Station with convenient links to central Perth in less than 25 minutes.

Joondalup has excellent supporting infrastructure for international students including accommodation, health services, cinema and entertainment, a multi storey shopping mall, superb recreational facilities and excellent beaches just 10 minutes drive away.

McLarty Avenue Annex

A number of our Health and Community services courses* are delivered between the Joondalup campus and the nearby McLarty Avenue annex.  The fully equipped simulation hospital is located at the McLarty annex which is walking distance from the main campus.  A free Joondalup central area transit bus service is available to transport students from the train station to the main campus and McLarty Avenue.  Visit Transperth for further information.

Clarkson (Trades North)

This $23m state-of-the-art facility is the main campus for trades training in Perth’s northern corridor and is accessible via bus service from Clarkson train station. It houses a full suite of training programs in bricklaying, plastering, tiling, carpentry, joinery, engineering and electrical trades.

The design includes dedicated training workshops and open spaces for each trade and aims to integrate the trades in a real world environment to ensure our students have exposure to different disciplines and learn to work collaboratively on projects.

The Clarkson campus embeds green practices to reduce water and waste minimisation. It also includes an eCafe for students and a centralised staff administration area to ensure students can easily access support when required.
