The Department of Training and Workforce Development in consortium partnership with Victoria University (VU) as lead RTO, provides a skills assessment service with Western Australian State Training Providers.  This service is provided on behalf of Trades Recognition Australia (TRA).  The consortium is approved to provide skills assessments in the following countries and occupations.

  • Cook – Asian Cookery
  • Cook – Commercial Cookery
  • Diesel Motor Mechanic
  • Electrician – General
  • Fitter – General
  • Metal Fabricator
  • Metal Machinist – First Class
  • Metal Fitter and Machinist
  • Motor Mechanic – General
  • Panel Beater
  • Sheet Metal Trades Worker
  • Vehicle Painter
  • Welder – First Class

The skills assessment is based on formal and structural recognition of prior learning. People successfully completing a skills assessment will receive an Australian qualification for non-licensed trades or an Offshore Technical Skills Record (OTSR) for licensed trades.
