To address the need for skilled labour, a number of corporations, labour hire companies and recruiters are sourcing labour from outside Australia. Through ETI's offshore practical skills assessment service, these companies can ensure that the skills and abilities of trade applicants are compatible with Australian workplace standards.
ETI assesses cohorts of applicants against the industry standards and employment groups in the National Training Packages. The ETI process is rigorous and is conducted within the source country by skilled Australian trainers and assessors - the same people who train and assess in Australia.
ETI assesses under the Australian Qualifications Framework and where possible, successful applicants will be granted an Australian qualification. ETI will also identify gaps in applicants' skills. ETI can arrange for applicants to have gap training offshore through an auspice program or at TAFEWA when they arrive in Australia.
ETI has been involved in assessing welders and chefs for 457 working visas. ETI is also part of a consortium involved in an offshore assessment program for electricians, carpenters and joiners, plumbers, air-conditioning and refrigeration mechanics, automotive mechanics and bricklayers for applicants applying through the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) skilled migration program.
