About these Dynamic, Interactive Maps
The maps on our site are provided using the Google Maps service. They are fully interactive and dynamic - you decide what you want to see and the map will change to show you.
Instructions & Tips
- Just hold down the left button on your mouse to grab the map and drag it to move the view.
- Double clicking the mouse on any position will centre the map at that point.
- You can also use the arrow keys on the map to to move around.
- The +/- slider on the map allows you to zoom in or out - so you can see both an overview but also zoom in to get the detail (like street names).
- The default "Map" view shows towns, streets and landmarks. Clicking on "Satellite" at the top right switches to actual aerial images of the location. The "Hybrid" view combines both.
- The Mini-map in the bottom right corner shows a zoomed-out overview of the current area you are looking at. You can drag the blue box around in it to more quickly move around a map.
Finding a Location
- The coloured balloon markers on the maps are key locations. Hovering over them will tell you the name; clicking on them will display a box with more information (like street addresses).
- Each map view only shows the locations that are relevant to what you are looking for (e.g. The Schools map only has markers for our Schools not our Colleges).
- The links below each map show all locations available and clicking on them will automatically adjust the map to show you that location.
Example Usage
Let's say you want to view the location of one of our Colleges...
- Using the main menu go to: About Us > Locations & Maps
- Select the relevant map. In this case, if a TAFE College in Perth - the Metropolitan TAFE Colleges map.
- Once the map loads click on the relevant location link below the map. (e.g. Swan TAFE Bentley Campus)
- This will centre the map on that location and open an info window with details (e.g. the address).
- You can then use the +/- slider to zoom in until you can see a close-up of the exact location.
- At this stage you might also like to switch to the Satellite view to see a real, aerial picture.
- Or you might want to grab the map and look at the area around the location or see how to get there from other points on the map.
