New Courses Offered in the Construction Trades
ETI is pleased to announce that a suite of new programs in the construction trades are now available for enrolment in 2011.
Economists are predicting that Western Australia will be entering a resources boom within the next year resulting in a significant shortage of skilled labour. The Commonwealth Government published a skilled occupation list which identifies areas of future employment need. Many of these are in the construction trades and Polytechnic West in Perth is now offering courses in four of these skilled shortage areas. They include: Certificate III in Bricklaying and Blocklaying, Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling, Certificate III in Solid Plastering, Certificate III in Carpentry.
These courses are taught through practical training in the college’s workshops as well as through work experience and industrial placement with Perth construction companies. The courses are 80% practical and run for 20 hours per week across three days. The classes are designed to reflect the construction industry working hours and start at 7.30am through to 3.00pm.
More information is available in our Course Catalogue.
