1. ETI's English Language Requirements are as follows:

Completion of the Cambridge First Certificate of English (FCE)

Completion of the Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)

Successful completion of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) at Upper Intermediate Level or equivalent at Central Institute / Polytechnic West or a recognised English college

Successful completion of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) at Pre-Advanced level or equivalent at Central Institute / Polytechnic West or a recognised English college

Successful completion of at least one year of study in a CRICOS registered course delivered in Australia.

Completion of the ETI English Proficiency Test at:

  • ETI Student Services centre in East Perth
  • A Western Australian regional TAFE Institute
  • A registered ETI agent in a DIAC Assessment Level 1 or 2 country

PLUS any subsequently recommended ELICOS program.

* Courses requiring higher levels of English for entry (IELTS 6 equivalent):

  • Diploma of Public Relations
  • Diploma of Children's Services
  • Certificate III in Aged Care if it is a pathway to Enrolled Nursing
  • Certificate IV in Health Science Foundations
  • Certificate IV in Preparation for Entry into Nursing
  • Certificate IV in Dental Assisting
  • Diploma of Dental Technology
  • Diploma of Aeronautics Airline Operations

Note: Direct entry to the Diploma of Nursing requires IELTS (Academic) 6.5

2. No English Test is required if:

  • A citizen of the following countries: Canada, USA, Denmark, Germany, United Kingdom, England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, South Africa, Singapore, Sweden
  • Completed high school in Australia - 1 year or more
  • Studied at Tuart or Canning College - 1 year or more
  • Completed a TAFE course in Australia - at least 6 months
  • Other vocational college - please refer to ETI Recruitment staff - case by case basis
  • Studied at an Australian or New Zealand university - at least 6 months
  • Has a result at the relevant level as listed below from one of the following English colleges:

Kaplan

Upper Intermediate Level  50% = IELTS 5.5

Upper Intermediate Level 60% = IELTS 6.0
