Remedial Massage (Diploma)   


Program DetailsProgram Details  
This course provides students with the training to perform massages for relaxation and health purposes. Students learn skills to assess a client's massage needs and plan and conduct a remedial massage based on a knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and using skills in a wide range of soft tissue massage techniques. Students also learn to work safely and ethically in a health care environment, to communicate effectively with clients and other health care workers, and to operate their own massage practice.

  • Diploma of Remedial Massage

General Entry Requirements and Pre-requisites

Entry into this course requires the equivalent of Australian Year 12 with passes in English, and Human Biology or Biology. Evidence of basic massage skills is also required.

For Yr 10-11 and Yr 12 academic equivalence, please refer to the Entry Requirements Summary (PDF) for your relevant country. This also details the normal English proficiency standard needed.


Work Experience, Activities & Events

During this qualification students are required to conduct and complete a large number of massages of varying types, work on a variety of community clients, and attend and work in and with the massage industry.


Career Outcomes

Successful completion of this course provides graduates with the opportunity to become a remedial massage therapist, either as a sole practitioner or with other health professionals such as physiotherapists.

Successful completion of this course may allow students to continue further studies at university in related subjects. Please contact your specific university of interest for more details on entry.


Other Study Costs (paid to College upon start):

There are material fees of A$110 per semester. Also required is a uniform (cost around A$30) and textbooks (about A$140). It is also recommended that students purchase or have use of a massage table.
