Keeping horses in top condition requires love, attention, hard work and skills. This qualification will equip you with theoretical and practical knowledge in horse health and handling, gear and rugging, raceday procedures, breeding and general daytoday care.
The qualification focuses on the thoroughbred and harness racing industry, allowing opportunities for career pathways to all areas of the equine industry.
Polytechnic West’s Equine Training Centre is a working stable on 20 acres of land only 35 minutes from Perth's central business district.
Admission Requirements
To gain admission to this qualification you need to meet the minimum entry requirement equivalent to Australian Year 10.

How is this Qualification Taught?
You will take part in the daytoday running of a working stable, including working the horses, stabling and track working on site. You will also undertake practical work in industry and receive classroom delivery of theory.

Further Study
On successful completion of this qualification you can continue on to either the Certificate III in Racing Trackrider or the Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.
Additional Information
The Polytechnic West Equine Training Centre is a working stable on 20 acres of land only 35 minutes south of the Perth CBD. Students will take part in the day to day running of the stable.

Tuition: $10,500 per year
