Marine Hatchery Management (Voc. Graduate Diploma)   


Program DetailsProgram Details  
This training program provides the student with specialised knowledge and skills in hatchery management practice. Extensive practical project work is undertaken in our Aquaculture Development Unit which is an applied research facility. The training focuses on relevant techniques to enable the student to analyse, diagnose, design, evaluate and make complex judgements in this environment. The program is flexible and includes hatchery work, lectures, assignments and projects. A high level of independent study and research is required.

Entry to this course requires completion of a Degree or Diploma at university in a related discipline.


About the Maritime Training Centre

The Maritime Training Centre is situated in the heart of Western Australia’s major port of Fremantle and is equipped with the latest facilities including ship & training simulators, an aquaculture hatchery and a fleet of six vessels including the 18-metre training vessel “Maritime Image”. The Centre’s proximity to the waterfront, shipbuilding and repair facilities, cargo operations and Western Australian shipping companies has contributed to its reputation as one of the most innovative and industry-relevant maritime training facilities in Australia.

Graduates of this course can find employment opportunities in hatchery management, aquaculture enterprise management, and aquaculture/fisheries research/compliance or management.
