This qualification provides you with the education and training you need to achieve competency in the wide range of skills required for the role of an enrolled nurse. A large component of the qualification is supervised clinical practice in hospitals, nursing homes and healthcare agencies.
This qualification will also provide you with the academic knowledge you need to apply for entry into a Bachelor of Science (Nursing) at university with up to 1 year credit.
On completion of this qualification, you can register with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency (AHPRA). You need an IELTS score of 7.0, with no band lower than 7.0 if you want to register with this agency.
Admission Requirements
To gain admission to this qualification you need to meet the minimum entry requirement equivalent to Australian Year 12 with passes in Science and Mathematics.
If you are enrolling in this qualification directly, you need an IELTS score of 6.5 with no band lower than 6.0 or equivalent.
If you are enrolling through either Certificate III in Aged Care or Certificate IV in Preparation for Entry into Nursing, you need an IELTS score of 6.0 on all bands (or equivalent).

Further Study
On completion of the qualification you can continue on to an undergraduate degree in nursing at university. Advanced standing will be offered but will vary from university to university.

Additional Information
Prior to undertaking your first clinical placement, you must:
- Provide a medical clearance from a doctor in Australia, including multiresistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) screening, immunisation, tuberculosis (TB) screening and a declaration of any communicable diseases.
- Undertake a criminal record screening as a requirement of the Health Department of Western Australia and an Australian Police Clearance.
- Provide a police clearance from your home country before you attend your work placement. You need to get this clearance before you arrive in Australia.
