Study Location(s) Available: Cert III: In Perth - Fremantle, Midland, Thornlie, Northbridge, Balga, Rockingham, Peel. In Regional W.A. - Bunbury, Geraldton, Broome, Albany, Busselton, Margaret River.
Cert IV: In Perth - Thornlie, Northbridge, Fremantle, Rockingham. In Regional W.A. - Bunbury, Albany, Broome.
Diploma: Northbridge.
College(s): Central, Swan, Challenger, Great Southern, South West Regional, Central West, Kimberley
Approximate Tuition Costs: A$5,000 per semester
Commencement/Intake Availability: February and July (except Rockingham & Bunbury for the Cert IV which have Feb intakes only)

General Entry Requirements and Pre-requisites

Entry into the Certificate III requires the equivalent of Australian Year 10 with passes in English. Entry at Certificate IV level requires the equivalent of Australian Year 12 with passes in English.

For Yr 10-11 and Yr 12 academic equivalence, please refer to the Entry Requirements Summary (PDF) for your relevant country. This also details the normal English proficiency standard needed.


What You'll Learn in Each Course

The Certificate III develops the students practical skills and knowledge in customer service, computing, and the record keeping needed to undertake a broad range of administrative tasks in an office environment. Students can choose to learn skills that enable them to produce documents from audio transcriptions, create and use databases, create electronic presentations, organise schedules, process payroll, and design and develop documents.

The Certificate IV provides the practical skills and knowledge in advanced office administration procedures and how to manage office administration staff. Students learn how to produce complex documents, databases and spreadsheets using the latest computer software. They also learn to set up and supervise records systems, organise schedules and business travel, coordinate customer service delivery, and plan and conduct meetings.

The Diploma provides the practical skills and knowledge to manage office administration staff, to establish and maintain a workgroup network, manage meetings and plan and manage conferences. Students also learn skills to plan or review administration systems, manage payroll, and manage business document design and development.


Work Experience, Activities & Events

At Central TAFE, completion of this program is achieved by participating in the Eat-Central Practice Firm. Students get the opportunity to trade with other Practice Firms around the State and really find out what it is like to work as an administrator within an organisation.


Career Outcomes

Depending on the stage of completion, graduates have the opportunity to become a personal assistant, office manager or business administrator.
