This qualification prepares you for work as a drafter and designer on commercial and industrial projects as well as low rise residential buildings. You will learn about design, site surveys, construction technology and building materials, and become confident using 2D and 3D computer aided design (CAD). You will learn about project administration, digital presentation and commercial working drawings. As part of this qualification, you will undertake a supervised work placement. On completion of this qualification you will be able to work as a drafter on commercial and residential projects with architects, builders, builders and project administrators.

Admission Requirements

To gain admission to this qualification you need to meet the minimum entry requirement equivalent to Australian Year 11 with a pass in Mathematics. Refer to the admission requirements for your country.

Additional Information

If you attend Central Institute of Technology, you are required to undertake three weeks of industry work placement as part of this qualification. It is your responsibility to organise this placement which is a requirement of successful completion of your qualification. Central Institute of Technology will assist you where possible but cannot guarantee placement.

Tuition: $12,000 per year
Resource fee: Year 1 - may be up to $445 per semester; Year 2 - may be up to $320 per semester
