Interior Design (Advanced Diploma)

In this course, students will learn how to produce interior design solutions - taking into consideration aesthetics, function, marketing, manufacturing, marketability and construction of products, materials and environments for the benefit of the user. Students also discover how to stay abreast of trends, fashions and technical developments in the design area and maintain a knowledge of product sources.

Special Entry Requirements: Entry into this program requires submission of a Folio. The Certificate III in Design Fundamentals is a foundation course for those without Yr 12 equivalence or a Folio.
University Entry Available?
Yes, to Bachelor of Arts (Interior Architecture) at Curtin University or Bachelor of Creative Industries (Interior and Spatial Design) at Edith Cowan University with up to 18 months credit
University Credit Possible?
Yes, up to 18 months credit
Other Study Costs (paid to College upon start): There are material fees of about A$1500 per year payable direct to the college
Other Info: Students must complete the 3 full years to receive the Advanced Diploma qualification, there is no Cert IV or Diploma available after 1 or 2 years

General Entry Requirements and Pre-requisites

Entry into the Advanced Diploma requires the equivalent of Australian Year 12 with passes in English or completion of the Certificate III in Design Fundamentals.

For Yr 10-11 and Yr 12 academic equivalence, please refer to the Entry Requirements Summary (PDF) for your relevant country. This also details the normal English proficiency standard needed.


Special Entry Requirements

Entry into the Advanced Diploma requires submission of a folio. Please see the Folio Requirements (PDF) for more details. Note: Courses requiring folios for entry need to be applied for at least several weeks earlier than normal.


Career Outcomes

Graduates can gain employment as an interior decorator, colour and decoration consultant or work as a freelance interior decorator.


Further Study & University Options

Successful completion of the Advanced Diploma will allow guaranteed entry to the Bachelor of Arts (Interior Architecture) at Curtin University in W.A. Students can receive up to 212.5 credits at Curtin (equivalent to around 8 months of the Bachelor degree). Credits are dependent on student performance.


Other Study Costs (paid to College upon start):

There are material fees of about A$1500 per year.
